Pompey won the gold medal at the 2002 Commonwealth Games and also won a bronze medal at the 2003 Pan American Games. She holds the South American indoor record for the 400 m.
She participated at the World Championships in Athletics in 2001, 2003, 2005, 2007 and 2009 as well as the IAAF World Indoor Championships in 2001, 2003 2006 and 2010 and the Summer Olympics in 2000, 2004 and 2008〔("Five athletes confirmed for Beijing Olympics — door open to others" ), ''Guyana Chronicle'', 12 June 2008〕 without reaching the final.
